Collaborations

I have enjoyed working with other artists on projects throughout the years.

The first collaboration was the GARDEN SHOW with sculptor Ned Smyth.
We created a gallery installation that conjured a restorative refuge resembling a secret garden.
It was shown at Holly Solomon Gallery in 1977.

In 1981, The Philadelphia ICA invited Ned and me to construct a window in the Wanamaker’s Artist Window Exhibition. We used existing props from their window display department to create a celebration of all cultures, East and West.

The third collaboration with Ned and ceramist, Ingrid Lilligren, was in 1981-82.
We created an installation of large freestanding and wall mounted ceramic vessels some on a monumental scale embellished with brightly glazed decoration.

In 1986-87 I collaborated with ceramic artist, Brad Miller, on a series of Landscape sculptures.
Miller made the ceramic landscape rock formations and I made the bronze trees.
These were exhibited at the Holly Solomon Gallery in 1987.

The most significant and longest collaboration has been with my wife, artist Janis Provisor.

In 1993-94 we went on an adventure to China and during that year we collaborated on some designs for a silk carpet.
After some serious struggles, we achieved success and, in the process,
founded a handmade silk carpet company, Fort Street Studio, in 1996.
The collaboration extended to our new factory in China with the partners in the photo below.
